Writing Prompt #7

Im too old for all-nighters.

So, on with the week of late night posts. This “fictional Friday” (more like soliloquy Saturday again) I thought I’d do another poem. This time my writing prompt is simply this: Mirror, Mirror. (even though now I can’t get action/vigilante/superheroes off the brain because I’m a nerd and that’s what we watch.) If you don’t like it, it’s not going to break my heart. I’m really too tired to care.

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall,
Who are you to judge at all?
What gives you the right to say
Who’s the fairest here today?

All you do is hang up straight
Filling minds with envy and hate
Towards the one you choose to be
The girl with the most beauty.

Her hair is smooth and perfect.
Her skin contains no defect.
She moves with grace, her head held high;
She is fair, none can deny.

Mirror, Mirror, don’t you see?
These lies you spread are folly.
For outward fairness ends, but
Lasting beauty lies within.
